MSG Nick Sheperty

"To support, to honor, to remember"

The MSG Nick Sheperty Foundation was created after MSG Sheperty died on April 17, 2019, during a military freefall training event

The Foundation’s mission is to honor and remember those who have died during or as a result of military freefall operations and to support active duty members, veterans, and their families.

Supporting student veterans

The MSG Nick Sheperty Foundation will make an annual distribution as a gift to a University of Maryland student in good standing.  This stipend will be given to a veteran or a service member of the Armed Forces or an immediate family member of either group enrolled at the University of Maryland.  The University's  Veteran Selection Process reviews all eligible candidates. It considers military service, academic standing, leadership and financial need with consideration towards a candidate whose life experiences align with our Foundation's mission when selecting the stipend recipient. The Foundation hopes, by expanding our funding activities, to provide additional stipends.

Honoring and remembering those who died during or as a result of military Freefall training.

Since Nick's passing,  the Foundation has been steadfast in its mission to honor those special operators who lost their lives during military freefall training operations or in support of these operations. We've partnered with the esteemed Randolph Rose Collection to craft a memorial statue, which is currently in the clay mold stage.  We're optimistic that the bronze casting will be finalized by summer 2024, with the memorial set to be unveiled in April of the same year.

We're thrilled to share that the statue and its concrete base have been fully funded, thanks to the generous support of Jaime and Jake Baker. Their financial backing has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

If you know a loved one, teammate, or friend who deserves recognition, we encourage you to submit their name. This list is a living tribute, and we're actively exploring ways to ensure all deserving individuals are included.

The foundation supports and coordinates an annual memorial run and receives monetary gifts from private individuals or from organizations to fund our missions. The memorial location will be in Yuma, Arizona at the Military Freefall school. The exact location has been determined by our partnership with the schoolhouse personnel. This memorial is scheduled to be placed in April,2024.
